Active ingredients that go into clean and green skincare can read like rocket science. For those who are conscious about the things they put on their bodies, it takes hours upon hours of research as well as trial-and-error to know which products actually work. Although all-natural derivatives and raw ingredients are generally safer, specific skin sensitivities and allergies may cause us to react to products differently. Some swear by virgin coconut oil. Others attest that tea tree oil is the cure-all for skin woes. Then there’s Argan, Marula and most recently, Pili oils.

One particular natural ingredient that’s piqued interest is cannabidiol or CBD oil. An extract sourced from marijuana or hemp plants, it’s caused quite the stir especially among clean beauty circles. Does it really work? What are its benefits to beauty and overall wellness? And one recurring question that many are dying to know: does one get “high” from using CBD-infused formulations?
Let’s get things straight. CBD comes from the non-intoxicating component of the marijuana plant, thereby rendering it free of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) content. Although some countries still impose a ban on CBD-based products in their territories, these formulations are absolutely safe and exhibits zero potential for substance dependence or addiction. In fact, some literature will tell you that TCH levels in CBD are at a bare minimum, it can sometimes go undetected.
